about

Official Music Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YERyreHXbGg

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story, The Mask of the Red Death, the video clip of What Matters is an exploration of the antichrist concept of Hungarian, 20th-century author: Béla Hamvas. Both approaches draw attention to the fundamental problem of our society, impersonalization. It is about the impersonal entity behind social media profiles, about the soul which ceases to exist within the overflow of individualism. With the quotation of Béla Hamvas, the extended version clarifies the interpretation:

The mask and costume design is from graphic artist Emese Rédei, the clip was directed by her & Greg, the owner of Sungazers.

lyrics

here is a place for finally crossing this veil
to stop lying to myself i’m chasing this away
collecting pieces of truth but then i drop them away

i open my mouth and i say what i wanted to say
what i have hidden in the thoughts of that there is no other way
lack of self-confidence i’m chasing you away

lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie

i thought it’ll be simple but you don’t recognize a thing
your selfless esteem cut the core of this fragile string
and i do remember that i have been here before
in you i can see the loneliness i feel with you

in you i’m buried and i will drown just to get through
in you i can see the loneliness you push me into
in you i can’t breathe but i will stay here to get through
i don’t want to scare you away i only want to see you fly

(i don’t want to scare you away i only want to see you fly
and see in your eyes as I lose myself here)
this will be the song what you’ll be listening to
when we’ll be apart
